Pak ISI behind Kanpur train tragedy

Kanpur, Jan 17: In a major revelation, the suspect of the Kanpur train tragedy has confessed during grilling that ISI hand was behind the November 2o, 2016 tragedy that killed over 140 passengers.
According to a TV report, while revealing Pakistan’s conspiracy behind the incident, the suspect asserted that it was ISI which had paid the goons to plant the IED on the railway track which resulted into the derailment of Indore-Patna Express.
He also said that the Kanpur tragedy was part of ISI’s mission railway.
Meanwhile, a team of anti-terror squad (ATS) is on its way to Motihari to further interrogate the accused.
Fourteen coaches were thrown off track at Pukhrayan, a town around 60 km from Kanpur, when the train was midway in its 27-hour journey between Indore and Patna.
Reportedly, hundreds of passengers were travelling either without ticket or with general ticket.
The railways had also announced an enhanced ex-gratia of Rs 3.5 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased, while critically injured were promised with Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 to those with simple injuries. The Central government has also announced an additional amount of Rs 2 lakh and Rs 50000 for the kin of the killed and those injured. Meanwhile, some passengers injured in the train derailment received compensation in cash, mostly in the denomination of banned Rs 500 notes.
In yet another incident, on December 28, 44 persons were injured after 15 coaches of Sealdah-Ajmer Express train derailed in Kanpur Dehat district of Uttar Pradesh. In the incident, the Uttar Pradesh government had announced a compensation of Rs 50,000 to seriously injured and Rs 25,000 to those with minor injuries.
