Army Chief’s final warning to Kashmiri Locals and Separatists !!

New Delhi, February 16: In the wake of rising incidents of terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir being provided cover from armed forces by stone pelters, Army Chief General Bipin Rawat has issued a strong warning against stone pelting. While making it clear that people who engage in stone pelting could be subject to firing, Rawat said that stone pelters would be treated as “overground workers of terrorists” and would thereby face the same punishment as that meted out to Jihadis.
The statements came in the wake of the martyrdom of three security personnel in anti-terror operations in Jammu and Kashmir. Major Dahiya and four other soldiers of the Indian army lost their lives in two operations against terrorists in Bandipura and Handwara on Tuesday. However, videos of the operations reveal that while the Army was carrying out the operations, they faced heavy stone-pelting at Parray Mohalla of Bandipore in north Kashmir, thereby contributing to the loss of their precious lives.
In the wake of the incident, the Army Chief yesterday issued a warning that stated, “Those who obstruct our operations during encounters and aren’t supportive will be treated as over-ground workers of terrorists.” General Rawat also added that soldiers would not hesitate to fire on stone pelters if anti-terror operations were obstructed in any way.
Briefing the media, Rawat said, “These terrorists who have now graduated to the villages, as we are conducting operations against them, we find that the local population is somehow not supportive of the actions of the security forces. While our aim has been to conduct people-friendly operations, the manner in which the local population is preventing us from conducting the operations, at times even supporting the terrorists to escape… It is these factors which are leading to higher casualties among the security forces.”
He went on to say, “I’d once again request the parents of these young boys… who have somehow, because of propaganda in social media, taken the path of violence, to return to the fold. We are giving them an opportunity, but should they want to continue, then we will continue with relentless operations, maybe with harsher measures and that is the way to continue.”
Another message that was conveyed to the people of Jammu and Kashmir by the Army Chief was that people waving ISIS and Pakistani flags would be treated as anti-nationals and duly acted upon. Making this clear, the Army Chief stated yesterday, “We would now request the local population that people who have picked up arms, and these are the local boys, if they want to continue with the acts of terrorism, displaying flags of IS and Pakistan, then we will treat them as anti-national elements and go helter-skelter for them. They may survive today but we will get them tomorrow. Our relentless operations will continue.”
The tough stance comes after the Army Chief briefed Prime minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday’s happenings. The Prime Minister even accompanied the Army Chief in paying homage to those who laid down their lives. As a mark of respect, Modi laid wreaths on the mortal remains of Major Dahiya and soldiers Dharmendra Kumar and Ashutosh Kumar, yesterday.
